Flanders Foal Auction starts new auction year in Norway

Flanders Foal Auction continues to grow international. Apart from the annual embryo auction in the United Arab Emirates and the successful debut in Dublin last August, the focus is now also on Norway. On Saturday 18 January about twenty embryos from the most successful dam lines in Europe will be auctioned some 100 kilometers south of Oslo.

There is a growing interest in Norway in buying exclusively bred, young showjumping horses, which inspired Luk Van Puymbroeck and Gerald Lenaerts to stage an embryo auction in Scandinavia. “Experience has taught that it works well to go to the customer ourselves and this is a great opportunity which we do not want to miss. Thanks to our Norwegian partner Ann Christin Rihm, who did great work to set this up.”

Equestrian Events
The embryo auction will take place during a newly created event, the Equestrian Events at Arneberg Equestrian Center in Barkåker. “The event is organized specifically for the embryo auction. The organizers are my long-term friends Tonje (Spillers and Top Spec Norway) and Jon Harald Gulliksen, the Norwegian chef d’equipe for the youth.”, says Ann Christin Rihm.

"Of course Norway also wants to develop more as a breeding country, but the main idea behind the event and auction is to be able to secure top horses for the future for Norwegian riders and top sport.”

Clinic Bengtsson and gala
Of course, the Equestrian Events offer more than just the embryo auction. Olympic showjumping rider Rolf-Göran Bengtsson will open the evening with a showjumping clinic, followed by the auction. After that the Norges Rytterforbund Showjumping Awards will take place. The evening will have a festive ending with a gala, live music and a DJ.

Two weeks later the Flanders Foal Auction team will travel to the Emirates for the fourth embryo auction in Sharjah on Friday 31 January. The summer program will be filled with foal auctions in Bonheiden, Beervelde and Opglabbeek and another embryo auction in Dublin.
