Cumano foal and half brother top horse to Flanders Foal Auction

Following successful auctions in Sharjah (UAE), Bolesworth (GBR) and Bonheiden (BEL), the Flanders Foal Auction team will be setting up for the 'Grand Final' on Thursday, 21 September at Sentower Park in Opglabbeek. "Without prejudice to our previous auctions, I think this collection is very, very strong," says Luk Van Puymbroeck.

Unique in the collection is the foal by the almost infertile world champion Cumano. This colt is born in Germany via the ICSI method, with a single sperm injected directly into an egg.The result: a beautiful, athletically built colt by Jos Lansink's former top horse out of a superb damline. Dam Cassina (Corofino x Lord) already produced three show jumping horses at 1.30-1.40m level and she is a half-sister of the 1.55m Grand Prix horse Van Schijndel's Cassanova (Carthago) and is closely related to the 1.60m Grand Prix horse Celine.

The damlines of the auction foals are soaked with top sport genes. In addition, a Wild Card has been given to a colt by Cicero Van Paemel out of the same dam as the Grand Prix mare Cas de Liberté (Cracky Z x Chellano Z), who was very successful at the FEI European championships with the Belgian Niels Bruynseels.

From the sire of H&M All In, the winner of the Europeans with Peder Fredricson, two foals will be auctioned. Rihanna van Schuttershof (Kashmir of Schuttershof x Quintero) comes out of the full sister of the Grand Prix jumping horse Aragorn van Schuttershof (rider Olivier Phiippaerts) and also Ronin van Schuttershof (Kashmir van Schuttershof x Corrado I) is bred out of this direct damline of Kashmir.

There are many highlights, such as Philyra LVP Z (Plot Blue x Bamako de Muze) out of the half-sister of the 1.60m jumping horse Coriana van Klapscheut ridden by Eric Lamaze, Hutchin un Prince (Diamant de Semilly x Airborne Montecillo) from the half-sister of Edwina Tops -Alexander's former top horse Itot du Chateau and Rinoa HW (Bamako de Muze x Berlin), whose grandam is the full sister of former world champion and top progenitor Vigo d'Arsouilles.

The Flanders Foal Auction in Opglabbeek ended last year with almost 16,500 euros on average and a top price of 49,000 euros. The foals were sold worldwide. Opglabbeek is only 15 minutes away from Lanaken, where the FEI World Breeding Jumping Championships for Young Horses will take place.
